The industrial zone of Al Shadadiyah in Kuwait faced an urgent need for a reliable and efficient wastewater treatment solution to support its rapidly expanding industries in the area. The Public Authority for Industry (PAI) awarded the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant to United Gulf Construction Company (UGCC).
The new WWTP will have a treatment capacity of 9,460 m³/day.
The challenge was to design a plant capable of efficiently treating multiple types of wastewater. The facility had to be versatile enough to handle effluents from various sources, including food industries, chemical plants, mixed industrial processes, sewage systems, and stormwater runoff. Flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability were key requirements to ensure long-term success.
To meet these challenges, Arges was responsible for the design of the WWTP, the equipment selection, and the supervision of the commissioning of the plant. The wastewater treatment plant was strategically divided into five specialized sections: food, mixed industrial, chemical, domestic wastewater, and stormwater purification. This segmentation enabled efficient treatment of different effluents while maintaining optimal performance.
